Description

Description Of Opportunity:

“Stray Birds Dance Platform” project in hopes of creating a bridge and providing opportunities for young choreographers to publish works on the platform. We offer awards and performance opportunities.

Applicant qualifications:

(1) All nationalities welcome

Submission qualifications:

(1) Performers: 1-2 people (solo or duo); choreographers can perform their own dance pieces

(2) Duration of work: 8 to 13 minutes

(3) Status of work: Released or not, either is acceptable

(4) Simple lighting and stage props are preferred

(5) Work that has already been presented at this platform is not accepted

(6) An applicant may submit more than one work to the platform

(7) Submissions of any form of dance are welcome

Awards

Selected works will be invited to perform at the following international festivals or institutions:

(1)  Taiwan|Stary Birds Dance Platform 

(2)  South Korea|New Dance for Asia 

(3)  Macao|Macao CDE Springboard 

(4)  Hong Kong|Hong Kong Dance Exchange

(5)  Japan| Odoru Akita International Dance Festival

Choreographers may be invited for commissioned works or residencies:

(1)  Taiwan|Lei Dance Theater – Commission or residency

(2)  Bulgaria| Derida Dance Center  – Residency or Invited performance

Stray Birds Dance Platform will provide:

1.Technical and Stage Support

  • Lighting and sound technical execution
  • *The Stray Birds technical team will provide full assistance, but technical support will be evaluated based on actual conditions and may not fulfill all requests.

2.Travel Support(for international participants):

(1)Airport–hotel transfer service (international airfare not included)

Accommodation (with breakfast) arranged by the organizer; may be shared with other participants (Accommodation provided from the night before the scheduled technical rehearsal until check-out on December 21)

(2)Per diem/daily stipend for working days (paid in cash upon arrival at the venue on technical rehearsal day)

(3)Travel Support Policy:

  • Only choreographers and performers of selected works are eligible
  • For solo works: Maximum support for 2 people including the choreographer
  • For duet works: Maximum support for 3 people including the choreographer
  • Travel expenses for non-choreographer/performer team members must be self-funded
  • Transport costs for any props or stage sets must be covered by the participants

3.Media and Promotion

(1)Professional photography and performance video recording

(2)Promotional exposure via domestic and international arts platforms
