International Physical Theatre Workshop: Text, Voice & Physical Action

Five days of practical work on how physical action, text and voice hold together in performance. Theatre biomechanics (Meyerhold), Psychological Gesture (Chekhov) and Physical Action (Stanislavski) are taught as one working method, not three techniques in sequence.

8-12 January 2027 | Berlin, Germany

NIPAI – New International Performing Arts Institute – invites professional and advanced pre-professional performing arts practitioners to a five-day practical workshop exploring the connection between physical action, text, voice, and stage presence.

The training brings together Meyerhold’s Biomechanics, Chekhov’s Psychological Gesture, and Stanislavski’s Method of Physical Actions within one practical working process. Participants will work with movement, impulse, improvisation, ensemble interaction, composition, blocking, and movement dramaturgy, including the development and structuring of a monologue through concrete physical and psychophysical actions.

The workshop is intended for actors, directors, choreographers, dancers, movement practitioners, circus artists, performing arts educators, and interdisciplinary performers. The international group is formed through a selection process based on professional background and CV.
