Boston Dance Theater announces their 2026 Winter Immersion Project – a creation based summer intensive

About
BDT’s Immersion Projects are designed as a rigorous training experiences for motivated dancers, ages 18 and older, within a professional contemporary dance company environment. Participants will study, rehearse, create, and perform with co-artistic director Jessie Jeanne Stinnett and members of the company. All students will take daily class taught by current company members.
All Boston Dance Theater Immersion Projects can also be used as an audition for BDT’s Trainee Program or Apprentice positions.
The Winter Immersion Project (WIP) normally takes place during the first week of January. WIP is a choreography-based workshop for dancers to learn, create, and experiment with new movement material through the exploration of composition and choreographic tools that come from a variety of practices. Practices shared/taught at WIP draw from BDT’s artistic processes and are facilitated by current Core Members.

Who Should Apply
Students and professionals ages 18 years and older who wish to jumpstart or expand their own dance making process through the practice of choreographic and compositional tools. Participants will engage in solo research and also have the opportunity to set work on other WIP participants. Applicants must have an interest in expanding compositional expertise through advanced improvisational tasks, used to generate movement material. It is highly recommended that prospective participants research the choreographers whose works are part of the company’s repertory before completing the application.
