International call for a new choreographic creation

International call for a new choreographic creation
The Dance Department of La Biennale di Venezia promotes a multi-year programme aimed at supporting the production (or co-production) of new works by international choreographers or dance companies. In order to participate in the selection, it is necessary to propose an original choreographic project (which has never premiered either in studio or full form).
When: 17th July 2026 – 2nd August 2025
Where: La Biennale di Venezia
Biennale Danza allocates resources for the creations of the new generations, with two calls that invite Italian and foreign artists and dance companies to present original choreographic projects. With total freedom as to form – from solos to compositions for ensemble – the projects submitted on or before 20 October 2025, as required by the calls, will be selected by Wayne McGregor, the artistic Director of the Dance Department. The selected projects will premiere at the 20th International Festival of Contemporary Dance (17 July > 1 August) and will be supported by La Biennale di Venezia with a production grant of up to a maximum of 30,000 euro, which may be used autonomously or in collaboration with other production partners to contribute to the production of the new choreography. In addition to the production grant, La Biennale di Venezia will cover all the costs for staging the work’s premiere in Venice – from the artists’ fees to travel and lodging expenses and production specifications.
