At Contempo-Collab you’ll spend 6 hours per day studying technique, performance, pedagogy, and related topics with two of the US’s top contemporary dance artists. Each day will consist of a two-hour technique class, a two-hour “special topics” class, and a 2-hour repertory class. On the evening of the sixth day of the intensive, you’ll perform the repertory work for the public and invited guests in an informal studio showing.

Our 2020 teachers, Missy Lay-Zimmer and Andrew Hubbard have won several major grants; were named to Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” in 2008; are Princess Grace Award Nominees for Dance; have been TEDx presenters on contemporary/jazz dance; and have both danced in multiple shows on Broadway, among many, many other credits.In addition to the week of intensive training, as a Contempo-Collab participant you will have the opportunity to remain in contact with Missy and Andrew. They will continue to serve as your mentors after the intensive, including writing letters of recommendation, answering questions about audition prep and what to expect, and generally providing dance-related guidance post-intensive when you need it.
