Description

Relieving physical and mental tensions by means of a holistic method that uses mental imagery, floor exercises and breathing techniques to improve the skeletal position, muscular strength and emotional well-being.

The Beamish technique is based on balancing body and mind. This encourages the correct use of muscles and unburdens the bodies of dancers from tension, resulting in greater flexibility, technical strength and ease of movement.

Wayne Byars offers a four-day workshop on the Beamish technique with morning Beamish classes and afternoon ballet classes to discover the benefits of the balancing practice and apply its effectiveness.

WAYNE BYARS

After graduating with high honours from Butler University’s prestigious dance department, Wayne Byars left the United States for France, where, as a young dancer, he was exposed not only to the French style, but also to the Vaganova school.

He is considered one of the most important ballet teachers in France today, with a clear, precise and stimulating teaching method that is highly appreciated by both ballet and contemporary professional dancers.

In May 2017, the French Ministry of Culture awarded him the highest French honour which recognises an individual’s contribution to French culture: Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of Arts and Letters).

The workshop is designed for ballet and contemporary dancers at an intermediate/advanced level. A CV is required for knowledge.
