Class Description |

Drawing inspirations from diverse movement practices such as martial arts, breakdance and animal flow, this WE-Class is based on Contemporary Dance technique built-up with a strong focus on floorwork.

The warm up will prepare the mover physically and mentally before their practice and execution. Based on cardio combinations alongside movement flow and coordination, this warm up will provide a better awareness of the whole body.

The second part of the class focuses on a series of tutorials from my own movement vocabulary. Studying organic movement, body locomotion and transitions, with different qualities and dynamics such as balancing, swinging, rolling, falling and melting down, will aim to find smooth transitions to and from the floor.

The last part of the WE-class will help to develop individuals approaches to moving and performing confidently with longer sequences.

This class aims to be accessible to a wide variety of movement backgrounds, practices and levels. All sequences and exercises delivered, have a variety of alternate movements for different levels and individual abilities.

Class Structure:
– Warm up
– Tutorials and practice
– Longer danced sequence with movements learned from the tutorials
– Q & A

• What is the WE Program?

We Educate. We Engage. We Encourage.

WE is a global program that aims to provide low-cost education opportunities (WE-Class). All class proceedings will go toward one emerging mover each time (WE-Award). To benefit from this award, an open call will invite proposals from movement artists who want to create or pursue an artistic project (WE-Open Call).

This ambitious program is very dear to my heart as I strongly believe in the idea that we can all support each other and grow together. WE are essential movers!

WE values an equitable, diverse, and inclusive world, which we interpret as all people having fair access to the tools and resources they need to realize creative and community endeavors. We acknowledge structural inequities that have excluded individuals and communities from opportunity based on race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, class, age, language, culture, and geography, and strive to counter those inequities in our work.
