Description

Developed by Anouk van Dijk, the Countertechnique® movement system prepares the body to move more fluidly and in a constant relationship with space and those who inhabit it. The key element of this technique is the continuous use of directions and counterdirections in all movements, while priority always lies in the body enjoying experimenting with different ways of the same movement rather than rational and intellectual understanding.

The workshop includes a warm-up phase and a section in which the instruments and principles of the technique are investigated in more depth by improvisation and guided exploration, with a special focus on the practice of shifting attention, i.e. the ability to consciously shift one’s attention from one thing to another while dancing.

The workshop is designed for dancers at an intermediate/advanced level.
