MOVING BODY FESTIVAL

MOVING BODY 2020, the 5th edition of the platform, will take place between 17 – 19.07 2020. All filmmakers, audiovisual artists, choreographers, dancers, creatives, artists, professionals and students are invited to submit their dance films and screendance works, and be part of MOVING BODY 2020!

MOVING BODY is a festival devoted to connecting artists, mediums, audiences and communities through contemporary dance, performances and films that are on the border of video art and dance. At the heart of the initiative and the design of the program are the questions – What makes us move? How do we move to? Towards what we are moving?

MOVING BODY 2020, the 5th edition of the platform, will take place between 17 – 19.07 2020. All filmmakers, audiovisual artists, choreographers, dancers, creatives, artists, professionals and students are invited to submit their dance films and screendance works, and be part of MOVING BODY 2020!

Dance films in a number of categories (experimental, narrative, social, documentary, animated, music video, student film, under 1 minute) up to 15 minutes (credits included) in length will be considered.

Awards & Prizes

One film will be rewarded with the Best Dance Film Award and presented with 800 Euro. Depending on the results of the funding processes of the festival, we will do our best to reward one or two more films with financial support. Also, one film will be rewarded with the Audience Award. One film in each category will be rewarded with an Encouragement Award for its contribution to the evolving and intriguing field which brings dance/movement and film/video together. ALL rewarded films will receive digital achievement diplomas and laurels.

MOVING BODY will strive to also organise a film tour, travelling to the major cities in Bulgaria, but also to the smallest hidden villages in our country to screen selections from the programme. Workshops and lectures for professionals will often be part of the touring programme, as well.

SPECIFICATIONS:

► Participants must be at least 18 years old to apply.
► Films must correspond to the genre of dance cinema (dance for the screen, video dance, screendance).
► Films must be completed after 1st of January 2018. Please, don’t send us films that you submitted last year. They won’t be considered for selection.
► A preview copy of the film (Vimeo, Youtube or web page) must be included in your submission, to be seen by the jury.
► We ask you to include in your application, the credits associated with the entire creative team, including choreographers, dancers and dance company, if applicable. We want to present all the crew and work behind your film.
► Dance films containing dialogues, in a language other than English, must include in the preview copy of the film, the respective subtitles in English.
