Pocket Dance Festival – Thessaloniki, Greece

Main info

A new dance festival is born in Thessaloniki, trying to help in spreading contemporary dance. We try to realize it through an independent production based on everyone’s contribution.

When: 7th September 2019 – 15th September 2019

Where: Ptolemeon 29a, Thessaloniki 546 30, Greece

The Pocket Dance Festival is an initiative by Vicky Angelidou, Natasa Arambatzi and Alexandros Goundinakis. It will take place in Thessaloniki at Studio 29A (Ptolemeon 29A, Thessaloniki) from 9 to 15 September 2019. Our aim is to bring the audience of Thessaloniki closer to artists/choreographers who work in Greece and abroad.

By organizing a contemporary dance festival we promote the art of dance in the city of Thessaloniki, we offer the floor to creators that live in and out of the city, we promote short duration dance productions (up to 20 minutes) and we spread the idea of a direct and democratic festival.

The program will include low cost seminars and performances via free contribution coupons so that the festival will be accessible by all. We support the idea that dance and art should be affordable by everyone.

We invite artists from Greece and abroad to participate by sending their proposals. We aspire to cover travelling expenses and accommodation via crowdfunding in an effort for the artists/dancers themselves to create the preconditions to communicate their art with the audience that will attend their performance.

In this effort of ours we ask for the support of anyone who wishes to contribute in the materialization of this festival. The supporters of the festival will have free access to performances and seminars proportionally to the financial aid they will provide.
